2023 Alting Banwave

Staff Members and applicants who were banned directly by TravelZap and Marqret.

The 2023 Alting Banwave was a series of terminations of many notable members of the community, including many prominent staff members, between May to June of 2023. Most of the individuals banned during this period were due to the discovery of them being an alternative account.

History

Kickstart

In the earlier months of 2023, many prominent members were banned, such as Gaara, VLyleee, and NooberMcNoobertonJr. As a result, World Conquest Administration would be heavily suspicious on its community. Additionally, many users who had applied to join the Staff Team would be discovered to be alternative accounts as well. This would lead to Administration performing a crackdown on suspicious accounts, including those who were already Staff.

May

randomguy20199's termination.

Randomguy20199

On May 2, 2023, randomguy20199, a user who was in the Staff Team, would be discovered to be an alt of VonKelsing. VonKelsing is a notorious raider, known for alting numerous times, and has been active since 2021. He would later be terminated from the staff team, and banned on the World Conquest Discord by TravelZap.

JamieTheMemeGuyRBLX's termination.

JamieTheMemeGuyRBLX

On May 3rd, another staff member would be terminated. JamieTheMemeGuyRBLX would be declared as an alternative account, and was banned. This ban was later proven to be false, and on December 18, 2023, Jamie would be unbanned by AHistoryFanatic. He would rejoin the Discord, but would later be banned again on July 20, 2024, for doxxing NicolasWellesley. In the genre of Stud Roleplay, Jamie now focuses on Risk Universalis.

Alexian_WasTaken's termination.

Alexian_WasTaken

Alexian_WasTaken was a well-known user in the community at the time, however, he would later be discovered to be an alternative account, linked to theconquestlord. This would lead to his ban on May 24, 2023, by TravelZap. His ban would be declared permanent, as he ban evaded whilst in the Staff team. Since then, both the Alexian_WasTaken account and theconquestlord account became inactive on Roblox.

UserIsEerie's termination.

UserIsEerie

Although this time not for alting, another staff member would be terminated. UserIsEerie, a well-respected staff member, would be terminated due to inappropriate conduct in the DMs of a banned user on May 28, 2023.The ban was criticized due to people perceiving the conduct outside of the authority of World Conquest administration. Eerie would later be unbanned over a year later, on June 9, 2024, by 5yawn, although he would leave voluntarily around September.

Casserant's termination.

Casserant

The last ban of May would take place on May 29, 2023, this time the victim being Casserant. Casserant had admitted to being an alternative account of Prestest. The ban of both UserIsEerie and Casserant within 2 days would come as a massive shock to most of the community, as both of these members were both prominent and well-known. Prestest would later be unbanned on January 8, 2024, banned again on February 13, then unbanned for the last time on August 1.

June

June would be the last month of the Alting Banwave, however this did not lower the severity of the events. Multiple prominent people were banned as well, and the month was filled with outrage from the World Conquest Community. Users attempted to accountability Marqret, who had orchestrated most of the investigations, and mob mentality groups would arise in #general.

Superpro89992's termination.

Superpro89992

On June 1, 2023, Superpro89992, most commonly known as "Freddie" would be discovered to be an alternative account of docterhulk, a user that was banned in 2021. This would result in his ban, although he would later be unbanned on January 24, 2024 by Rasvyet. Freddie would then go on to become a staff member once again, but would later be sacked. Freddie still remains in the community, although he had temporarily left in late September.

SergeantDornanF2's termination.

SergeantDornanF2, a former staff member, would be banned from World Conquest on June 4, 2023. This was after an investigation done by Rasvyet concluded that he had alted to evade his in-game ban. Dornan had lied about his account, and had also evaded his Discord ban 3 years ago. He was an alt of the creeperminecart34. Dornan would later appeal on December 6, 2023, and would go on to become a staff member again. He would later resign his position as a Trial Moderator on February 11, 2024.

Fistmancddd's termination.

Fistmancddd

Fistmancddd was the last victim of the Banwave, being banned on June 5, 2023. He was supposedly an alt of 12gta6, which had been banned in World Conquest before. This event would be a large uproar amongst the community, also resulting in the creation of "protest" gifs. He would later be unbanned on June 18, 2023, after he had debunked this claim with large support from the community. He would wait a while to return to staff, due to his self-admitted ownership of multiple alternative accounts. Fistman would later be permanently banned on September 13, 2024, after evidence of sexual harassment and inappropriate conduct.

Aftermath

A large amount of the playerbase declared the bans as "unfair," and a large debate sparked and remained ongoing even after the banwave ended. Even though there were many other people banned for alternative-account related incidents during 2023, this banwave was the most significant due to its effects and victims.
