"Rank Scare" is a general term referring to the exploitation of a role by higher ranks, such as Adept Conquerors or Elite Conquerors. It can be divided into two categories. Direct and Indirect Rank Scare.

Direct Rank Scare[]

Adept Conquerors generally are the people doing this. They belittle on lower ranks, such as Initiate or Conqueror, and force them to concede unrealistic demands. Before the Rank Reforms done on 7/17/24, if they so happen to reject their ultimatum, they would use a mix of Buzzwords and Speedtyping to quickly confuse their opponents. This works most of the time, and they are forced to surrender. There are also examples of Rank Scare in which a higher rank offers to buy a parcel of land for a comically lower price than what it is supposed to be, where the lower rank can only agree in fear of repercussions set in place against them. A prime example of this is DaveTheVillian's abuse of role against an unnamed conqueror.[1]

However, Elite Conquerors are perpetrators of this as well. Although not as much as Adept Conquerors due to their particularly low numbers despite Eliteflation, it is still prominent. Once the lower ranks decline, their roleplay usually stays cohesive.

Indirect Rank Scare[]

Indirect Rank Scare is where the lower rank, seeing someone of a higher rank, offers an alliance or other diplomatic agreements for no reason other than for their rank. This is done to directly prevent them from invading. Another variation of this is simply not attacking them, and waiting for them to leave.
