On December 16, 2023, Arunsongkhram, the founder of World Conquest, announced his resignation from his position as Chairman. Recognizing his mismanagement of the game, he passed Chairman down to Marqret. Marqret had bought the Group and the Game for 600 USD. The price was considered a "steal" as World Conquest was worth much more.[1]
Resignation[]
Threats[]
Seeing the stagnating playerbase, caused by Arun's lack of interest, and the state of Administration, Arun was being pushed by most of Administration to resign. According to Rasvyet, now Head Administrator, the members of Administration and Development had collectively plotted to leave if Arun hadn't made his decision. This included Marqret, Rasvyet, AHF, GreenFawkes, but did not include Noorullah.[2]
Caving In[]
Arun initially refused to give in, and Marqret made a final offer to buy the group, which was done on December 16, 2023. In the minutes after, the ownership of the World Conquest Discord would be transferred to Marqret, and ownership of the Group would follow soon after. @everyone would soon be pinged 3 minutes later.
Public Reactions[]
Many prominent figures in the World Conquest Community, including Bl_uJay and Rasvyet, respect Arun (or Phibun) for stepping away.[3][4] It was not easy stepping down from a community he started.
Legacy[]
Arun stepped away from the community regarded as one of the most well-respected figures in World Conquest's history by prominent figures. It is likely that Arun will never return to World Conquest, as he also cited the "inevitable changes and responsibilities" of life. Although, Arun still remains in contact with his peers from World Conquest, including people like Noorullah and NicolasWellesley.
