Introduction

This Day in History, often abbreviated to TDIH, is channel focused on informing people about events in World History. Every day, individuals with the Historian Role announce an important event that took place historically, pinging the @This Day in History role. It was created on January 21, 2024, as part of a major server change, and is still active to this day.

Information

In order to post in the channel, you must obtain the Historian role, which you apply for with Historian applications. These applications are opened when Administration decides more historians are needed, or if a Historian resigns or is no longer able to hold the position. Additionally, there is also a Junior Historian role. These roles are, in the most part, equivalent to the Community Associate and Junior Community Associate role, respectively.

To obtain the @This Day in History role, you must go to #information and select it through the menus, just as you would with any other role. Once you obtain this role, you will be pinged for every major TDIH post. Oftentimes, there will be a memorial post, in which the channel is dedicated to remembering that event. On a day where a memorial post will be posted, no other posts are allowed.

History

Creation

Originally directed by AdmiralFanatic, TDIH was announced and created on January 20. Alongside the creation of the channel, #irl-photos was renamed to #music, #applications was moved to the Bulletin category, and the @Gamenights role was created. It begun activity on the following day. Subsequently, more people began to obtain the Historian and Junior Historian role. Thebobelfish became one of the first Historians, being promoted on February 19, 2024, J_sally would also be promoted to Junior Historian as well.

Early History

The channel would continue to develop, with double posts for each day beginning as early as February 23, initiated by J_sally. These types of posts would continuously become common to happen. Another 2-in-1 edition would be posted on February 26. The tradition of Images being attached to posts, which would eventually be solidified with a poll, was started by Thebobelfish on March 6. Eventually, with the historians being dissatisfied with the lack of engagement the channel had gotten, a poll would be created on March 7. The poll would ask the community if new details should be added to posts.

The poll largely succeeded, with the 3 propositions (Trivia and mini-polls, Themed weeks, Visuals) largely being accepted by the community. Another poll would be conducted later that day, this time concerning how long the descriptions should be, with mixed results. Another poll would also be conducted on March 17, this time on the addition of Music Mondays, where an event relating to Music culture would be posted. Despite a large amount of dislikes, the Historians didn't listen and implemented Music Mondays anyway.

After many days in which 2-in-1's were implemented, Bobel would launch a quick survey on March 24, this time asking the community on if they would like to see more than 1 event in history per day. This poll largely succeeded, however this wouldn't become commonplace until April. On April 19, the Historians decided that they needed a Junior Historian to assist. Sally announced the first ever applications were open, and the results would release on April 20. RealApeXDeast and LoneStarBadger would both be promoted to Junior Historian.

Recent History

More applications would open on May 15, looking for more Junior Historians. Repair_bot would come out victorious as the finalist on May 23. In another attempt to not miss more days, "Your Day In History" would be launched on June 16, which you would apply for an event to be posted. On July 12, the Historians would yet again decide that they needed an additional member. Applications would be opened, and the accepted applicant would the ryantheghost7roblox. Unfortunately, 5 days later on July 19, Repair_bot would request his resignation. He would be replaced by dushmanim.

After this long wave of new Historians, Bobelfish would announce and later post a survey on the World Conquest Tierlist on August 11, allowing the community to vote on who had impacted World Conquest the most. Results would be posted on August 18, posted on a google slide. Additionally, a major announcement would be put out by Bobel on August 27, with themed weeks and themed days being publicly planned to return. After 2 months of Junior Historian applications being closed, applications would open again on September 1, with Sevverity and Utahthebest14 obtaining Junior Historian. On October 2, sublimecrab gained Junior Historian and on November 3, Myinng had also been given the role. Your Day In History would also return on September 2.

A minor incident happened on September 20, with Sevverity unexpectedly leaving. The situation was resolved and Sev was promptly given back their Junior Historian role. TDIH continues to grow and thrive, and undoubtedly will continue to exist. A month and 5 days later, on October 25, Jasally would unexpectedly leave World Conquest as a whole.
